This is exactly the choice the Ukrainians are fighting over.

And the question is: Do we want Putin's tanks in Dvoroshk and Medyka, or would we prefer they stay in Donbas? The farther from our borders, the better.

So Ukraine is our functional ally by keeping Putin away from our borders.
