New: Trump administration is preparing sweeping sanctions against the International Criminal Court that could severely limit its access to the global financial system.

The measures would ban most transactions with the ICC after a grace period of six to seven months and could prevent it from conducting dollar transactions.

The move would significantly reduce existing sanctions on individual ICC officials and, following the court's arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant for alleged war crimes in Gaza.

Marco Rubio said the U.S. could dismantle the court "brick by brick", arguing that the prosecution of officials from non-member countries threatens U.S. sovereignty.
