Obama:

Part of the reason culture wars seem to be accelerating and people feel so threatened is because once upon a time people in San Francisco and people in Lubbock, Texas didn't necessarily know how the other lived, and now it's inside them, and they feel threatened by it.

And if we cannot develop an ability to see each other and recognize our common humanity, the old types of leadership with the destructive weapons we have and the means of propaganda we currently have, it will be a recipe for tragedy.

And we have a better option. It's more fun not to hate each other and try to get along and work together.
