The American B-1B Lancer bomber was photographed taking off from RFF Fairford tonight with full afterburners.

An afterburner appearance usually means the aircraft is heavy - often indicative of a full weapons load - although they can also happen on practice runs.

Fairford has been the main base for Operation Epic Fury strikes on Iranian targets since March, with about a dozen B-1Bs still stationed there.
