The President of Israel, Yitzhak Herzog, pardoned former IDF soldier Elor Azaria, who was convicted in 2016 of killing a wounded Palestinian attacker in Hebron.

Herzog said that the decision was made "in the spirit of these days" and reflects the importance of "repair, reconciliation and the ability to move forward."
