Germany began mandatory medical examinations for 18-year-old males born in 2008 as part of the new military registration system.

Almost 1,000 men who had not volunteered to be interested in joining the Bundeswehr had already been screened.

A national screening system with 24 assessment centers is planned to begin in July 2027.
