Annenberg's 2026 Constitution Day Citizenship Survey found that 35% of US adults could not name all three branches of government - executive, legislative and judicial.

While 65% identified all three branches, others indicated only one or two or none.

Americans also struggled with First Amendment knowledge, with only 9% able to name all five protected rights and 24% unable to name them.

The poll included 1,034 US adults between August 6-9, with a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.
