Iranian media released photos of the Al Gaya tanker, which reportedly suffered an incident while trying to cross a restricted area south of the Strait of Hormuz.
The Revolutionary Guards' navy said the strait was closed and under its control, and warned that vessels entering unsafe lanes would face "incidents".
