This is fundamentally an imperial war. It is about the sense of the history of Russia.

It has to do with Russia's feeling that there is no possibility of a Russian future or a Russian empire or Russian honor without Ukraine. And it's a complete disaster.

And the only way to fix the Ukraine problem is for the West to be clear about Ukraine's future, and we're still not doing that.
