King Philippe of Belgium rejected the resignation of Prime Minister Bart de Weber and ordered him to resume negotiations on the budget immediately.
De Weber offered to resign on November 2 after his five-party coalition failed to agree on 10 billion euro budget measures.
After consultations with the heads of the coalition, the king secured commitments from all five parties to make concessions and reach a settlement.
De Weber must report to the king on November 16.
