Internal Republican polls have shown strong public support for the Iran deal proposal spearheaded by Vice President J. Dee Vance in mid-June.
Voters familiar with the proposal supported it by a 41-point margin, while 67% believed it would lower gasoline prices.
However, Republican Iran hawks, including Sen. Ted Cruz, pushed Trump to keep pressure on Tehran.
The agreement subsequently collapsed, and the war continued.
