Pope Leo XIV requested a vote-by-mail permit to vote in the Illinois midterm elections on Nov. 3 from the Vatican.
The Chicago-born Pope remains a registered voter in Illinois and requested his vote on Oct. 3.
Voting records show he has previously participated in both the Republican and Democratic primaries.
