NEW: US Forces Japan to ban all BYD vehicles from Kadana Air Base in Okinawa, citing security risks.

The ban applies without exception to personnel's private cars, contractor vehicles, taxis and deliveries, with the security forces turning them away at every gate.

Cadena, the US Air Force's largest overseas base, hosts the 18th Wing and the Typhoon missile system capable of launching Tomahawk cruise missiles.

The base's spokesman, Lt. Col. Eli Stommer, said that the vehicles "pose an unacceptable and irreducible risk to our people and our mission," without providing details.

Yonhap, citing US military officials, said the concern is that cameras, sensors, GPS and connected features could collect and leak sensitive information.
