Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney:
At the end of one world order, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk built a safe and sovereign nation guided by his belief: "Peace at home, peace in the world."
And in this time of fracture, Canada honors this example: strength at home, partnership abroad.
Mr. President, more than 70 years ago, Canada sent maple trees to grow alongside and in Anitakavir as a gesture of peace and friendship between our nations.
Today, these trees stand among 48,000 others from over 25 countries.
Today, the seeds of something new have been planted: a strategic partnership that will create new opportunities for our workers and our businesses, and greater security and prosperity for our two peoples, and with our efforts, I believe, for other peoples in this region and more broadly.
With care and commitment, this partnership will grow for generations to come.
