French presidential candidate Jean-Luc Melanchon:
Unemployment, worsening poverty, and the growing isolation of a whole section of the population who can no longer travel simply because the gas for their cars is too expensive.
I'm talking about rural areas, but also urban areas where people have to go to the supermarket or take their children to school.
It also means skipping meals because putting gas in the car costs more.
Winter is coming, and people delay turning on the heating as long as possible because of the electricity bills.
All this creates the conditions for a state of irritation.
