New: Qatar and Pakistan presented a compromise proposal to revive talks between the US and Iran. According to the plan, Iran will receive profits from its $6 billion in frozen funds held in Qatari banks.
In return, Iran will allow a secret visit by the IAEA to its nuclear sites.
Pakistan's army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, reportedly conveyed the proposal to Tehran on Tuesday.
Sources say it has US clearance. According to reports, Iran responded positively to this earlier.
Only the interest on the frozen assets will be deposited into an Iranian account, not the principal.
The unannounced inspection will refer to a central demand of the US in the nuclear file.
