Half of Britons say they would refuse to fight for their country under any circumstances, unchanged since April 2025, according to an Ipsos poll of 1,090 adults. Men were the only group more willing to fight than not, with 48% willing and 40% unwilling. Most women and adults aged 35–54 said they would not fight. Despite this, 51% support increasing defense spending, compared to 28% in 2022. The UK aims to raise core defense spending to 3.5% of GDP by 2035, but funding beyond 2027/28 remains unclear.
