South Korea has successfully tested its first hypersonic hovercraft.
The Boost-Glide weapon launched from a desert off the west coast, separated from its booster, performed maneuvers at hypersonic speed (Mach 5+), and struck a naval target.
No speed or range data has been released.
The test was carried out days after North Korea claimed to have launched a hypersonic missile and against a background of increased tensions after a mine incident on the border.
A full operational deployment is years away, it was a technology showcase, but it marks South Korea's entry into the hypersonic surfing club.
