A US military exercise involving 9,700 troops in California has exposed major flaws in its push toward artificial intelligence-driven warfare.
Drones overheated, batteries failed, communications broke down and experimental equipment malfunctioned. Some drones operated without AI or autonomous capabilities.
Despite spending billions on modernization, the military continues to struggle with unreliable technology, bureaucratic delays and outdated systems.
Officials acknowledged setbacks but said improvements in communication, AI-assisted planning and data sharing show progress.
