Palestinian President Abu Mazen scheduled simultaneous presidential and legislative elections for September 11, 2027, and postponed the parliamentary elections originally scheduled for November 28, 2026.

The order cites Israeli military operations, settlement expansion, movement restrictions and security challenges in Gaza and the West Bank as obstacles to free and fair elections.

The postponement is intended to enable a national dialogue and create conditions for general elections throughout Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
