New: The State Department's inspector general is investigating US Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle and the embassy she leads.

The investigation comes after longtime Trump donor Eric Deters accused Guilfoyle of asking for $100,000 to pay her American Express account before her 2025 confirmation hearing, allegedly in exchange for access to Trump administration officials.

Deters provided messages that showed Gilofail instructing him to wire the money directly to American Express so it "wouldn't show up anywhere." He said he never paid.

A senior diplomatic official described the investigation as rare and said it worried State Department officials.
