Elon Musk's SpaceX has agreed to buy radio spectrum licenses to expand Starlink Mobile, aiming to become a major U.S. mobile carrier.
The deal will allow Starlink to provide cellular coverage inside buildings by combining satellite connections with terrestrial networks, which could challenge traditional telecom providers.
The acquisition still requires FCC approval, although the agency has already approved Starlink to launch 15,000 satellites capable of connecting directly to mobile phones.
