A fire at the Greek Navy's helicopter base in Kotoni destroyed warehouses containing critical spare parts for its helicopters.

Parts for the old AB 212 helicopters may be impossible to replace as they are no longer available on the market.

The fire also destroyed valuable spare parts for the Navy's new MH-60 Romeo helicopters, which can be replaced but at significant cost.

The Ministry of Defense and the military leadership of Greece have been silent about the damage and the extent of the losses.
