The Iranian network used seven fake Western journalist profiles to publish nearly 100 articles across about a dozen outlets around the world, as activity increased after the start of the US-Iran war. The Russian operation used a so-called think tank, the Social Research Center (SRC), to spread anti-Ukraine propaganda and influence politics in Latin America. OpenAI said the center's local employees were apparently unaware they were working for Russian group, and described it as their most complex fake front operation disrupted in two and a half years.
