Germany has decided to withdraw from the future Franco-German MGCS tank project, the head of the French Defense Staff, General Fabian Mendon, announced. Launched in 2017, the project was intended to replace France's Leclerc and Germany's Tiger 2 tanks around 2045, but has faced years of industrial disputes, funding disagreements and delays. The announcement comes just four months after the collapse of the Franco-German-Spanish FCAS future fighter jet project.
