FlyDubai co-pilot Hammam al-Hamami, who allegedly tried to bring down Flight 1073 near Tel Aviv last week, told investigators he had planned a similar attack in July but backed out because he cared about a crew member.

According to the reports, the Omani citizen was looking for a job with airlines flying to Israel and planned to disable the captain's ability and crash at a target such as Ben Gurion Airport.

Hammami was previously banned from flying by Oman Air due to extremism concerns, but FlyDubai hired him without checking with Omani authorities.
