Lithuania is deploying up to 100 soldiers to reinforce its border with Russia's Kaliningrad region for about two weeks.

Officials said the preventive move follows reports of possible Russian mobilization, which could prompt people to try to cross illegally, as well as the recent border incident between Latvia and Belarus.

Lithuania says the situation on its border is currently calm.
