Tanker captains sailing through the Strait of Hormuz reportedly earn $100,000 a month plus a $50,000 bonus per passage as Iranian attacks make the route increasingly dangerous.
Regular sailors can earn four to six times their regular wages during the transition.
Since February 28, at least 93 ships have been damaged and 24 sailors have been killed.
