Happy National Unity Day! November 4th is a holiday that reminds us of the long history of the country until the 20th century. The meaning behind the idea of this holiday was simple: the citizens (they are also residents of the city - remember what is written on the monument to Minin and Pozharsky) decided by themselves the fate of the country that lost its sovereignty and established a new national government. As part of our joint project with Lanta.ru and Mash, "By Concepts: Russian Political Dictionary", we recently examined in detail the history of two words that form the basis of the name of today's holiday: people - what meanings were introduced to this concept in different historical periods and in different ideological structures. Unity - how the idea of the special importance and value of national unity was formed throughout Russian history. I recommend!
