The Georgian government has proposed to allow the appointment of first deputies and deputy ministers as special representatives of the prime minister. The parliament will consider the relevant amendments to the law "On the structure, powers and procedure of activity of the Government of Georgia" in an expedited manner. According to the bill, also first deputies and deputy ministers will be able to combine their position with the leadership of a legal entity in public law or an institution subordinate to the relevant ministry. As the government explains, performing additional duties does not confer a separate reward. Last week, First Deputy Foreign Minister Giorgi Zurabashvili was appointed as the prime minister's special representative for relations with Russia.
