The Netherlands plans to cut around 25,000 civil service jobs and save 3.5 billion euros annually by 2035 through artificial intelligence-driven productivity, simpler regulations and a smaller government, with savings of 900 million euros targeted for 2027. The government will streamline public services, expand secure data sharing, reduce advisory bodies and policy audits, and repair IT systems.
