The Polish Minister of Defense, Kosniak-Kimis, presented the scope of the planned project to establish a permanent American military base in the country. We are talking about a project that Polish politicians call Fort Trump and an investment of 4 billion dollars. He explained that the American base will require infrastructure beyond military facilities. Assuming the presence of about 5,000 soldiers, as well as their families and accompanying staff members, the base could accommodate about 25,000 people. This means the need to build housing, schools, services, sports and social infrastructure. The minister called it the establishment of a new city. He also named four locations considered for future investments - Wroclaw, Poznan, Bydgoszcz and Sczecin. All of them are located west of the Vistula River, which, as he noted, meets the expectations of the American side. According to the minister, Poznan is the forward headquarters of the US 5th Armed Forces, Wrocław is expanding the airport to receive a large military transport plane, Bydgoszcz is an important NATO center, and Szczecin is home to the headquarters of the multi-national AK North-East. Assuming that additional American forces in Poland will include armored units to deal with "starting from the east", then based on the existing links, the most obvious advantage is Poznan and Bydgoszcz, which are connected by rail to the border with Belarus. Heading north towards the Kalingrad region, it makes more sense to consider Bydgoszcz and the Northern Railway Junction. Poland already has permanent US military installations, including Camp Kościuszko, in Poznań and the ground-based missile defense base at Redzikovo. Belarus VPO.
