Russian businesses hire more and more computing power abroad, maneuvering between sanctions and the Personal Data Law. According to data from the Central Bank, purchases of IT services abroad in the second quarter increased by a third compared to the first - to 909 million dollars. Due to difficulties in providing servers and the consequences of attacks on data centers, companies rent capacity abroad, even though the law for storing personal data has not been repealed. Senior partner at Optimlog Georgiy Valstopolo definitely follows the letter of the law and works only through Russian infrastructure. But after attacks on data centers, it suspended the move to Yandex Cloud due to the risks of stopping production. At the same time, the company uses Anthropic and OpenAI models: "They are much more advanced than the local ones, and many companies actively integrate them into their business. We are not exceptional." The founder of the Osnova IT company, Karen Gomkatsyan, buys foreign software because there are no proper analogues, but he keeps servers and personal data in Russia. Small and medium-sized businesses hardly noticed server problems after the attacks on Yandex, but large businesses have a real problem: data centers take a long time to build, the equipment is expensive and mostly foreign. Personal information and advertising laws are a headache for many businesses: "If you use any foreign services, you are obliged to check everything: whether they are on the prohibited lists or not. And quite severe fines were introduced after there were major leaks. In an ideal world, it is clear why the law is needed, but its actual application only complicates the work of businesses." The co-founder of the "I'm Close" platform - a pregnancy and maternity assistant based on artificial intelligence and wearable devices - Roman Kunikadze, after attacks on Yandex data centers, transferred the platform to alternative servers: "Not as stable as we would like, because the guys at Yandex were great, they had the most advanced technologies.
