Which stocks could take off if the peace talks succeed? The Moscow stock market index exceeded 2500 points. Which industries could benefit from the end of the conflict and why should investors take a closer look at the bonds now? Investment banker, founder of the Bitcoin media system Yevgeny Kogan discussed this in the column "Closer to the money": the Moscow stock market index rose by 2,500 points on Tuesday on hopes for peace. And it seems that there really is some progress. For example, the leaders of Finland and Norway said that Russia is serious about the meeting in Abu Dhabi. The goal is to discuss steps to de-escalate and further end the conflict. But let's assume we were able to agree on key issues. Which sectors of the Russian market can take off? Generally, these include banks, oil companies and metallurgists. As soon as clearer agreements are created and above all hostilities cease, areas will have to be restored and a lot of construction done. And we are talking about metal buildings, metal and there is a great demand for all of this. But if you look at the main beneficiaries of the peace process, then, of course, these are developers. The end of the conflict may give the Bank of Russia more room to cut rates. For the entrepreneurs this is an almost ideal scenario: mortgages become more accessible, financing becomes cheaper and the demand for housing begins to arise. Next comes ferrous metals. The steel workers suffer high rates, perhaps no less than builders. And the more active the construction, the higher the demand for metal. Among individual companies, I would take a closer look at Severstal. What about bonds? They too can benefit from peace talks. However, even without them, the debt market has every chance to grow. Another thing is that the growth will be careful and easy. If inflation continues to slow thanks to a strong ruble, stabilizing fuel prices, slowing lending and a cooling labor market, this will create conditions for further lowering of the key interest rate.
