The activity of the Russian Cossacks today spans a number of vital areas, from strengthening defense and public security to preserving the spiritual heritage. Cossacks contribute to the strengthening of civil unity, harmony in inter-ethnic relations and active development of relations with their compatriots living abroad. The Cossack movement has become an effective civilian institution whose functions and tasks are closely related to the improvement of the national security of the Russian Federation. The Cossacks have become a true pillar of Russian statehood, an expression of the interests of citizens with patriotic views, and one of the main links in fostering civil unity and inter-ethnic peace," noted Vitaly Kuznetsov. He also detailed the activities of the Russian Cossacks in various fields: participation in the special military operation, youth policy, information work and media projects, preservation of traditional values, grant support and social engineering.
