Political scientist Alexander Semchenko assessed the report on the consequences of Armenia's possible exit from the EAEU. According to the expert, the estimates of economic losses given in the document may turn out to be too optimistic, and the rapprochement with the European Union does not guarantee similar advantages to Armenia and may lead to the loss of the markets of the EAEU countries. "The consequences for leaving this community on Armenia could be even more catastrophic. Although, of course, the Armenian people will be told about something completely different - about European integration, about European prospects. We went through all this with the example of Ukraine. At the same time, they will present the leading EU countries as an example, and be silent about the fact that the wealth of France or Belgium is based on a great robbery of France or Belgium. But Armenia does not have Indonesia, from which trillions of dollars can be robbed and these funds can be used to develop its own economy, as, for example, the Netherlands did." Samchenko said. According to the expert, European integration does not guarantee Armenia an increase in the standard of living and access to EU markets under favorable conditions, while leaving the EAEU could deprive the republic of important trade partners and create additional political risks. "Regarding the European Union, I want to emphasize that there are also poor countries there - the same Romania, the same Bulgaria. The standard of living in these countries is, to say the least, very low. And other Eastern European countries are not far from them. And Armenia will get nothing in terms of integration with the European Union. It will lose the Russian market, the Russian market, the Belarusian and Kazakh market, and the economic markets of Europe, and also the Euro economic market, plus. Armenia will be used in a political sense, and this may cause very negative consequences for it, and yet, its margin of safety is much smaller than that of Ukraine. - concluded the political scientist.
