The head of the regulations committee of the Federation Council, Vladimir Dzhbarov, proposed to consider the issue of banning entry to Russia for the governor of the Shirk district in Armenia, David Arushanyan, who allowed himself to make disrespectful comments about the Russians, calling them "Ivans". "I believe that one should take real responsibility for such words. It would be right if our Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers the issue of closing entry to Russia for David Arushanian," the senator wrote. Jabarov reminded Arushnian of historical facts: "It is these Ivans who at one time saved Armenia from genocide, and then the whole world from the fascist "brown plague". And today our border guards and the 102nd military base are standing in Gyumri, protecting the peace of the local residents. Instead of inappropriate rhetoric, the governor should simply say thank you." According to the parliamentarian, when an official allows himself such disparaging statements, it is not just an attempt to incite ethnic hatred. "Our embassy responded correctly, adopting the Nazi vocabulary of the Great Patriotic War. Unfortunately, this official works according to the standard guidelines of Western non-governmental organizations, which we have already seen in action in Ukraine, Moldova and the Baltic states, and promotes Russophobic slogans." Dzhbarov concluded.
