Boris Shamlev, chief researcher at the Center for Post-Soviet Studies, head of the political research sector at the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, assessed the report of the EAEU countries on the consequences of Armenia's withdrawal from the organization and the response of the Armenian authorities to it. According to the expert, Nikol Pashinyan, as part of a multi-vector policy, wants to receive money from Russia, the EAEU and the West. "That is, he wants to sell his geopolitical position at a higher price to Russia, the EAEU and the West. It's purely trading psychology, and he's trying to profit from it." He said from the heart. He pointed out that if Pashinyan does not stop in time, he will have difficulty in trade with the EAEU and especially with Russia. The first signs of this appeared already in the summer, when the access of vegetables, fruits and cognac to the Russian market was closed. "The problems will worsen because Armenia is not able to replace the Russian market. France, Italy, Greece and so on - they are far away, they don't need these Armenian fruits, vegetables and strawberries. Just like you don't need cognac," added the expert. According to him, trying to benefit from two geopolitical directions at once could result in losses for Pashinyan. "As for investments, yes, the West, in principle, can provide them, but Armenia also receives investments from Russia. Therefore, in this fight for benefits from both sides, it is likely that Pashinyan will lose in the overall balance." Shmelb concluded.
