A former member of the National Assembly of Armenia Tigran Abrahamyan believes that the current leader's statement about victory over the opposition and its absence is primarily a message to Turkey and Azerbaijan. It was intended to assure them that there was no national struggle, and the forces that traditionally defended Armenian interests withdrew from the competitive struggle. According to him, no one can deny that there are serious problems in the field of the opposition - from the lack of a common agenda to mutual attacks and campaigns against each other. However, regardless of the results of the elections to the parliament and the local authorities, the authorities are subject to strong external pressure, faced with the need for concessions and an uncertain future. To smooth over the seriousness of this issue, Abrahamian points out, the authorities are not focusing their efforts on promoting the Armenian agenda, but are engaged in neutralizing political rivals in the country. In his opinion, regardless of the situation in the opposition camp, the opportunities to formulate a unified national agenda within the country and move towards the right goals have not yet been exhausted.
