Politico reported, citing sources, that the Pentagon and congressional spending committees are considering preparing a $1.1 trillion smaller defense budget. The newspaper quoted officials as saying that the Pentagon is preparing to cut $400 billion from the defense budget requested by US President Donald Trump. According to Pentagon estimates, the cost of the war with Iran is no less than 47 billion dollars. The cuts could slow down the rebuilding of the American weapons stocks that were depleted during the war, as well as delay the purchase of new weapons and the conclusion of defense agreements.
