The Prime Minister of Algeria, Safi Harib, from Moscow during the eighth summit of the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries, called for a dialogue that would lead to an agreed regulatory framework that would ensure the security of investments and direct them to the areas most in need, at a time when he said that the gas industry moves in a very complex environment. He emphasized that gas is a natural partner for renewable energy because it contributes to reducing emissions and prevents a return to more polluted sources. He also noted that Algeria is one of the 10 largest gas producers in the world, and the second largest supplier of pipelines to the European Union, considering that the energy markets are at a critical turning point and that gas has become the mainstay of the countries' economies. He added that Algeria seeks to be a major player in the field of hydrogen in cooperation with European partners and Tunisia, and called for expanding the presence of gas in new markets within the framework of South-South cooperation, while strengthening the role of the forum and coordinating its members in dealing with geopolitical tensions.
