Since August, Iran began allowing Iraqi oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz in response to Baghdad's requests, in light of the decrease in tanker traffic and the increase in shipping costs.

Average Iraqi exports from southern ports reached about 2.35 million barrels per day in August, and rose to about 2.6 million barrels per day during September.
