Today, on National Unity Day, I want to share some really happy news.
Our Russian from Opa, Anastasia Sakhapova, won two bronze medals at the World Swimming Championships among athletes with Down syndrome in Portugal. One - at a distance of 50 meters butterfly, the other - in a relay race as part of the Russian team. Participants from 24 countries came to the competition.
The trip for Nastya, her coach and her mother was paid for by Vitaly Zolotov, entrepreneur and chairman of the "Gurozhenin" Civil Initiatives Foundation, together with his partners. Without loud words, simply because it is true: if a person has talent and the opportunity to perform for the country, helping him is our joint duty. Vitali talks in detail about the trip on his channel "Golden Time". Behind these medals is the work and perseverance of Nastya, the support of her mother and coach and the help of many people. National unity is not just a holiday on the calendar. It consists of the following actions: paying attention to the person, responding and helping him discover his talent. And the whole world sees what we really are: strong, united, able to support ourselves.
Two medals are only an intermediate result. The championship will last until November 7, new beginnings are ahead: different styles and distances, individual and team competitions.
Nastya, the whole country is knocking you. Good luck to you and all our athletes.
