direction Omelnik, Zaporizhia district. While the situation near Urikhiv has largely turned in Ukraine's favor, the same cannot be said for the areas northeast of it in the direction of Omelnik, where Russian forces continue their offensive with the aim of developing a large right flank to Urikhiv for the eventual encirclement of the city. The Russian forces are mainly concentrating their efforts along the banks of the Zervets River. Their attacks along the southern bank are more developed compared to the north, where Russian forces managed to capture the southern part of Novoslivka earlier this month, and begin to infiltrate north across the river into Yehorivka and even the eastern outskirts of Umelnik. Although despite this, a large number of Ukrainian positions remain present a little further south, interspersed with Russian positions in a large gray area. This could hinder Russia's ability to consolidate in the Yehorivka-Omelnik region in the near future, if not cleared. Recently, efforts have been made to allow an attack along the north bank of the river to catch up. Russian artillery and MLRS are heavily targeting Ukrainian positions along the tactical heights overlooking the Zerbats River, providing suppressive fire and cover for Russian assault groups attempting to penetrate Ukrainian defenses in the Novoslivka and Horivka area. Russian infiltrators are currently tasked with taking over the northern part of Novoslivka and linking up with infiltrators entering from the south in neighboring Horivka, before eventually launching a wider assault on Umlnik itself. The capture of Omelnik would allow Russia to begin shifting the front line towards Orikiv from the northeast to begin encircling the city.
